“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
As we celebrate volunteerism in April, I am reminded of ALL the good done by volunteers, staff, guests, and residents which often goes unseen and unrecognized. Silently, small (and sometimes big) problems are solved, maintenance is done, and record-keeping is completed. No Broadway lights or Hollywood spotlights capture these activities; however, in each action the person radiates light and hope. This month as we highlight volunteers and all the activities at Meeting Ground and the Cecil County Men’s Shelter we take a moment to recognize, remember, and praise God who makes each and every one of these activities possible.
Lord, the Light of Your Love is shining,
In the midst of the darkness shining,
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us,
Set us free by the truth You now bring us,
Shine on me. Shine on me.
Shine, Jesus shine,
Fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Blaze, Spirit blaze,
Set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river flow,
Flood the nations with grace and mercy.
Send forth Your word,
Lord and let there be light.
Lord I come to Your awesome presence,
From the shadows into Your radiance.
By the blood I may enter Your brightness,
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness.
Shine on me. Shine on me.
As we gaze on Your kindly brightness.
So our faces display Your likeness.
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story.
Shine on me. Shine on me.
